London - ALsharqiya, June 14: Meta-owned WhatsApp is testing a new feature for Android users that allows them to scan documents directly using their phone's camera, without the need for external apps.
According to WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp updates, the new feature will be listed under the "Document Sharing" section. Users will be able to select the "Scan Document" option to activate the camera and point it at the desired document.
The feature will offer two scanning modes:
Manual mode, which allows users to select the appropriate moment to take the photo.
Automatic mode, which automatically captures the image once the document's borders are identified.
After capturing the image, WhatsApp will automatically convert the document into a PDF file ready to share in conversations.
The feature is still under development and is expected to be rolled out in future updates for Android users.
