Turkish Foreign Minister receives his Syrian counterpart

ANKARA - ALsharqiya, August 13: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan received his Syrian counterpart, Asaad Al-Sheibani, on Wednesday, who is visiting Turkey to discuss joint cooperation and consolidating security and stability in Syria. Fidan said in a joint press conference that relations between Ankara and Damascus have progressed in recent months, despite what he described as attempts by "disturbed" parties to obstruct cooperation, especially in the economic field, with the aim of preventing the creation of conditions for the return of refugees. Fidan warned of Israeli moves to weaken Syria and sow chaos there, stressing his country's support for its territorial integrity and sovereignty and its readiness to enhance strategic cooperation with it. For his part, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Sheibani said that his country faces ongoing challenges, including Israeli attacks and external attempts to impose a divisive reality, adding that Damascus is open to any partnership that respects its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
