TikTok launches a tool to convert photos into videos.

London - ALsharqiya, May 18: TikTok has announced the launch of a new tool called "AI Alive," the first feature that relies on artificial intelligence to convert still images into short videos within the app's Stories feature. The tool allows users to create animated visual content from a single image, adding dynamic effects such as moving clouds, changing sky colors, or natural sounds such as the ocean, depending on the nature of the image. It also includes the ability to animate selfies and highlight facial expressions. The feature is available exclusively through the Stories camera, and videos are created using advanced AI techniques, with a clear notification that the content is "generated by AI," in addition to the inclusion of technical data (C2PA) to identify the origin of the video even after it is uploaded outside the app. TikTok explained that the tool has undergone trust and safety tests, reviewing images, text, and results before publishing, with the option to report violating content. To use it, users can open the Stories camera, select a photo, and then activate "AI Alive" from the toolbar to transform the image into a creative video. This move puts TikTok in direct competition with platforms like Instagram and Snapchat, which have the advantage of integrating real-time video animation technologies.
