Sulaymaniyah - Al Sharqiya , August 8: Activists on social media circulated disturbing images showing a clear decline in the water level of one side of the Dukan Dam headwaters in Sulaymaniyah Governorate. Environmental activists warned of a water crisis that is worsening year after year, threatening one of the most important water sources in the Kurdistan Region. The images showed the water receding from one side of the Dukan Dam lake and the expansion of dry land areas in its place due to factors of climate change, drought and desertification.
