The past embraces the present with boldness and elegance at the "Dior" show

France-ALsharqiya, June 26: Kim Jones, creative director of men's fashion at Dior, chose an exceptional start for the show he presented yesterday, Friday, as part of the Paris Fashion Week. What did he do to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the beginning of his cooperation with this ancient French house?

The Dior show was the most prominent event within the activities of Paris Men's Fashion Week for Spring and Summer 2024. At the beginning of the show, square openings appeared in the floor of the stage, from which the exhibitors emerged with confidence and elegance, announcing the launch of one of the most prominent shows followed globally.

The beginning of the show was a surprise to the audience, but what was presented afterwards proved the confidence of the creative director of the house in his steps and his orientation towards a world of classicism, from which he was inspired by many details that formed the pillars of his show. Jones described his collection in the following terms: New look to new wave, meaning "a new look to a new wave," and he wanted it to be a celebration of elaborate tailoring, bright colors, and embroidery.

In this collection, Jones was keen to return to the precious archive of Dior, looking for sources of inspiration in a group of tweed designs that it presented in the year 1960. In his new designs, he was able to create coexistence between the past and the present by merging classic elements and future touches in a style that is not devoid of daring and elegance.

The tweed material was the most prominent present in this group, as we saw it covering jackets, coats, pants, and even shoes, while the second present was the heavily embroidered stones on shirts, jackets, and soft sweaters that looked as if they were encrusted with jewels.

Jones maintained the fashion of neutral colors (beige, brown, gray...) but added some bright neon touches to it, and it was remarkable for his implementation of the geometric "Cannage" print that Dior is famous for. The wide and short pants were repeated in this group, while the jackets maintained a classic design, but were sometimes decorated with knots on the upper pockets. As for the shirts, they were executed with comfortable materials and cuts, and they came draped over the pants to enhance the impression of the multi-layers that the designer was keen to highlight. It was remarkable for the appearance of very strange hats in terms of design and color, which were coordinated with the classic character of the looks. Most of the looks were accompanied by men's bags of various shapes, sizes, and colors.
