The passing of the great Iraqi journalist Sabah Al-Rubaie

Dubai - ALsharqiya, July 23: Saad Al-Bazzaz said today that a knight of the free word has passed away after a journey of struggle and giving that spanned five decades in the history of media in Iraq. He is my brother and friend, Professor Sabah Al-Rubaie. The deceased was described as a major partner in the establishment of Al Sharqiya channels, the selection of its cadres, its sponsorship, and the supervision of its work for 21 years. Al-Bazzaz said: "Iraqi media will never be mentioned without the name Sabah Al-Rubaie being mentioned." Al Sharqiya Channel mourned the great Iraqi media figure Sabah Al-Rubaie after a long struggle with illness, having left his mark among the most important and prominent media figures in contemporary Iraq. Al-Rubaie, who was a senior advisor to Al Sharqiya Channel after contributing to its establishment, passed away at the age of 80. He is considered a pioneer of Iraqi media, and many media figures, broadcasters, and presenters studied under him. The late Sabah Al-Rubaie also served as Director of Iraqi TV for several years, in addition to numerous journalistic and editorial positions. He also won several Arab and Iraqi awards in recognition of his long journalistic career. The name of the late Sabah Al-Rubaie, the distinguished broadcaster, teacher, and spiritual father of generations of media professionals, emerged after a career filled with giving, excellence, and professional integrity. His presence shaped the voice of the news, the majesty of the screen, and the spirit of the word. He leaves us today in body, but he remains alive in the memory of the profession and in the hearts of those who loved him, worked with him, and learned from his nobility and professionalism. Farewell, calm, deep voice... Farewell, unforgettable presence.
