"The Nan 2" tops the North American box office

North America-ALSHARQIYA   September 11: “The Nun II,” the latest horror film in the “The Conjuring” series, topped the box office in North America, according to estimates published Sunday by the specialized company Exhibitor Relations.

The second part of the movie “The Nan” (2018) achieved revenues amounting to $32.6 million in its first weekend in cinemas in the United States and Canada, which constitutes a “very good start” for a similar film, according to analyst David Gross.

The events of the ninth part of the horror film series, “The Conjuring,” take place during the 1950s inside a monastery in the south of France, where a young nun encounters a demonic force.

The action movie “The Equalizer 3” starring Denzel Washington came second in the rankings, earning $12.1 million in its second weekend in cinemas. In this film, which is the third in the "The Equalizer" series, Washington plays the role of a retired US Marine and anti-narcotics agent confronting an Italian gang.

The third place went to the movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” with revenues amounting to $10 million. She wrote this American comedy, which details a family trip to Greece, and was directed by actress Nia Vardalos.

The Indian action film “Jawan” came in fourth place, achieving revenues amounting to $6.2 million, in a great success for a Hindi-speaking film in the United States. Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, who directed the work, plays the lead role in it.

And fifth was the movie "Barbie", directed by Greta Gerwig and starring actress Margot Robbie, the famous doll character, with $ 5.9 million in revenue in its eighth week in cinemas. The total revenue of this work since its launch has reached $ 1.4 billion worldwide, which is the highest amount achieved by a movie at the box office this year.

The remaining films in the top ten rankings at the North American box office are: "Blue Beetle" ($3.8 million), "Gran Turismo" ($3.4 million), "Oppenheimer" ($3 million). Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem ($2.6 million), Bottoms ($2.1 million).
