The Lebanese judiciary acquits Nancy Ajram's husband in the murder case

Lebanon-Sharqiya October 3: On Monday, the Lebanese judiciary finally acquitted Fadi Al-Hashem, husband of artist Nancy Ajram, in the case of his murder in 2020 of a masked man who infiltrated his home in the Keserwan area, north of Beirut, with the aim of stealing, and threatened to kill him and his family. The decision considered that Al-Hashem’s act is classified as Within the framework of "legitimate self-defense," according to what his agent told Agence France-Presse.

A judicial source explained to Agence France-Presse that the Criminal Court of Cassation, headed by Judge Suhair Al-Haraka, issued a decision in which it ratified the decision of the indictment body in Mount Lebanon to prevent the trial of Fadi Al-Hashem in the case of the murder of Ahmed Musa.

Al-Hashem’s representative, lawyer Gabi Germanos, explained to Agence France-Presse that “the indictment body’s decision, which was approved by the Court of Cassation today (Monday), proves that the conditions for a legitimate defense are met in the Fadi Al-Hashem case.”

He added, "This simply means that the decision considered that Al-Hashem exercised the right to defend himself and his family in light of the circumstances in which he was present, which were proven according to scientific reports, such as the thief entering at night carrying a weapon and Al-Hashem threatening to harm his family. All of these circumstances allow Al-Hashem’s action to be described as an act." Self-defense,” indicating that there was “a balance between his reaction and the danger caused by the thief.”

He pointed out that "this decision gave the correct description of legitimate self-defense in similar cases and thus made it possible for any person to defend himself without fearing the issuance of any judicial ruling against him, provided that the harmful act against the person is proportional to his reaction of defending himself."

Moussa had infiltrated the artist Ajram’s villa in New Suhaila, about twenty kilometers north of Beirut, on the night of January 4 to 5, 2020, while he was masked and armed with a gun.

Musa arrived at the bedroom of Al-Hashem’s three daughters, and threatened to kill him and his family if he did not guide him to the money and jewelry safe. Al-Hashem quickly brought his gun and shot the attacker, killing him with 18 gunshots.
