Syria rejects SDF conference planned for Paris

Damascus - ALsharqiya, August 9: The Syrian government on Saturday rejected the conference that the SDF intends to hold in Paris, saying it constitutes a blow to ongoing negotiation efforts. The official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted an official source in the Syrian government as saying that Syria will not participate in any meetings scheduled in Paris and will not sit at the negotiating table with any party seeking to revive the former regime under any name or cover. The official stressed that the Syrian government calls on the SDF to seriously engage in implementing the March 10 agreement and also calls on international mediators to transfer all negotiations to Damascus, considering it the legitimate and national address for dialogue among Syrians. The official stressed the right to peaceful assembly and constructive dialogue, provided that it is within the framework of the comprehensive national project that revolves around the unity of Syria, its land, people, and sovereignty.
