Basra - Al Sharqiya, August 10: A company operating in the Abu Sakhir area of Basra Governorate raised the purple flag on Sunday, warning of the severe heat wave that is currently sweeping the governorate. Oil facilities resort to raising the purple flag to indicate the color of the ultraviolet rays that cause “sunstroke” when exposed to excessive amounts of its rays, which affect human health and pose a risk to extraction mechanisms in oil fields.
