Moscow - ALsharqiya, August 12: Russian forces launched a surprise attack in eastern Ukraine, east of the town of Dobropolya, in a move that Ukrainian and Russian military bloggers say could become a serious problem for Kyiv unless it is countered. Operational maps on the Deep State military blog on Tuesday showed Russian forces rapidly advancing north in two axes extending up to 10 kilometers (six miles), as they seek to take full control of Ukraine's Donetsk region. Deep State said the forces advanced near three villages in a sector of the front line linking the Ukrainian cities of Pokrovsk and Kostyantynivka. The Russian pressure comes days before a summit in Alaska on Friday between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, where the two leaders are expected to discuss a possible agreement to end the war in Ukraine.
