Italy-ALsharqiya, July 12: Dolce & Gabbana chose to present the "Alta Moda" show of high fashion in the Puglia region of southern Italy, specifically in the city of Alberobello, which is classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. About 500 guests were invited to this show, who discovered the magic of this place and the new duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
Alberobello is dotted with typical Trulli dwellings with conical roofs made of limestone, according to a construction technique dating back to the 14th century and still in use in this area. The designers of the house made sure that their guests experience the details of daily life in this city, so they shed light on the sidelines of their presentation on the traditions of handicrafts of pasta, weaving straw baskets, and carving children's toys from cactus leaves. They incorporated these natural and cultural elements into their designs, drawing inspiration from the craftsmanship and heritage of this region.
Since the beginning of the show, designs that merged traditional Italian aesthetics with Dolce & Gabbana's distinctive style appeared, as we saw conical straw hats, basket-woven corsets, and hand-woven crochet outfits. Some designs were decorated with details inspired by the architecture and mountainous landscapes of this region.
Simplicity dominated these designs, in contrast to the richness that usually characterizes Alta Moda collections. The use of tulle and lace materials that exude femininity was repeated, while masculine touches entered the costumes through sharp lines and cuts. Through this group, the designers of the house succeeded in presenting an authentic Italian novel, by mixing the Italian rural cultural heritage with their unique style. They have taken their guests and social media followers on a journey where tradition meets innovation and imagination with reality, celebrating their rich Italian heritage and affirming their status as pioneers in the fashion industry.
