Pierre Cardin opens Paris Fashion Week with a show dominated by blue

Paris-Alsharqiya September 29: Paris Fashion Week kicked off with a show by Pierre Cardin at the headquarters of the French Communist Party, dominated by the color blue, evoking the color of the ocean.

This was the French brand's second show at Paris Fashion Week since the death of its founder Pierre Cardin in 2020.

Rodrigo Basilicati Cardin, the late designer's nephew, told reporters that the new collection is based on the blue color inspired by the ocean, dedicating the concept of "protecting the planet."

Models presented dresses in one of the shades of blue on a dark blue catwalk under the reinforced concrete dome of the building designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer in a modern style.

More than 100 designers will participate in the Fashion Week, which continues until October 3rd, including Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes, and dozens of new international designers, in addition to the French fashion house Balmain, which will continue its shows. Although part of its collections were stolen.

A few days ago, thieves seized a truck carrying about 50 Balmain items on the road between Paris airport and the house’s headquarters in the French capital. The company said that it is working to redesign the missing pieces and will proceed with presenting its spring and summer 2024 collection.

Among the fashion houses that will present shows are: “Dior” and “Saint Laurent” today, Tuesday, “Courage” and “Dries Van Noten” tomorrow, Wednesday, and “Lanvin” and “Givenchy” on Thursday.
