Oriental touches were present at Naeem Khan's show in New York

New York-Al Sharqiya, September 14: The American designer of Indian origin, Naeem Khan, is known for his designs that constantly appear on the red carpet of the most famous international festivals. Prominent names such as Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Michelle Obama, Queen Noor of Jordan, and even Princess of Wales Kate Middleton have previously worn his clothes. So what is new for the spring and summer 2024 season?

Designer Naeem Khan was born and raised in Mumbai, India. He learned embroidery from his grandfather and father, who designed fashion for Indian royal families. During his teenage years, he moved to the United States, and at the age of twenty, he began working as an apprentice at the famous American fashion house Halston, where he learned the principles of design and elaborate tailoring. He then combined his own philosophy with the knowledge he gained from his family’s work in the field of design to launch a fashion house bearing his name. He presented his first collections in the year 2003, and to this day he still makes sure to implement his fashions with materials that were hand-embroidered in India, specifically in the factories owned by his family. The preparation of his collections takes place in New York City, where his fashion house is located.

Naeem presented his ready-to-wear collection for the upcoming spring and summer during New York Fashion Week events. It was an exploration of the harmonious fusion between East and West, as he was inspired by his Indian heritage, ideas that infused the spirit of modern innovation and decorated them with traditional hand embroideries. Indian craftsmanship was the main element that the designer sought to highlight in this collection. He also paid attention to highlighting the contributions of his culture to the world of fashion and breathing new life into these traditions dear to his heart.

Khan's spring collection included about 35 looks, dominated by bright colors such as blue, green, lilac, pink, and red, with a striking appearance of silver and gold, which decorated outfits suitable for the most prestigious occasions. Embroidery was present in abundance and diversity, between the traditional Indian style and the contemporary style, which was distinguished by its three-dimensional character. Some designs were also accompanied by head coverings that formed part of the dresses. It was noteworthy that the designer was keen to satisfy different tastes through the diversity he adopted in cuts and materials, while preserving the luxurious character that characterizes his fashions.
