OPEC: The world is increasingly in need of stable and safe energy supplies

LONDON-ALSHARQIYA  Oct 13: The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has confirmed that the world is increasingly in need of stable and secure energy supplies as population continues to grow and economies grow over the coming decades. According to a WHO report, the global economy is projected to double in size in 2018, and the global population is projected to reach 9 billion and 200 million, an increase of 1.5 billion. The report cautioned that energy poverty remains a scourge, although the UN report on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicates that the total number of people without access to electricity fell to less than 1 billion in 2017. 3 billion people lack access to low-emission fuel for cooking.
