The US Treasury Department identified the Iraqi trader as Thamoud Mohammed Mohsen Al-Azzawi, CEO of the GMCG Shipping Company, accusing him of involvement in smuggling Iranian oil and selling it on global markets. The US Treasury Department also imposed new sanctions on Tehran, targeting more than 115 individuals, entities, and vessels, including Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani, son of Ali Shamkhani, advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
