The first set of new features and functionality includes the ability to choose GBT Chat users and developers, allowing GBT Chat to choose new sources of live, updated data over the Internet, including independent sources such as Expedia, Kayak, and Instercart. Prior to this update, the platform was GBT Chat is restricted to obtaining information from among its processed data, the most recent of which dates back to 2021, according to the "Cnet.com" website that specializes in technology issues. "Although it's not a perfect analogy, the new extensions can be eyes and ears for language models, allowing them to access highly current, highly personalized, and highly specific information, and add it to the processed data on which it relies," OpenAI said on its website. For example, GBT Chat can now search for an answer to a question, such as how successful movie ticket sales are for this year's Oscar-winning films, compared to other recently released films. This new function works thanks to adding the ability to browse websites, which allows the platform to obtain information available on various websites, then classify and process it to provide the answer.
