Najaf - Al Sharqiya, August 8: The streets of Baghdad are pulsating early with the atmosphere of the Arbaeen pilgrimage, as processions extended on both sides of Rusafa and Karkh until visitors gathered at the Dora intersection in a unified scene, with the number of people marching towards Karbala increasing day after day. The roads remain open amid preparations to close major traffic axes with the arrival of the peak of the march early next week. Najaf Governorate receives millions of visitors annually during the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, as more than five million people enter during the ten days of the month of Safar. This year, the pilgrimage coincides with intense heat waves, which places great responsibilities on health and service personnel in monitoring the safety of food and drink tables amid security and service alert to secure the march towards Karbala.
