Ministry of Wealth: Terrorist attacks are an attempt to undermine the region's economic pillar.

Erbil - Al-Sharqiya, July 16: The Ministry of Natural Resources announced that a number of oil fields in the Tawke, Fishkhabur, and Ain Safni areas in Zakho and Shekhan were severely damaged after being subjected to terrorist attacks using explosive drones. The Ministry strongly condemned these cowardly terrorist attacks and considered them an attempt to strike the economic pillar of the Kurdistan Region and create a direct threat to the safety of civilian workers in the energy sector. The Ministry of Natural Resources calls on all concerned parties in the federal government and the international community to take urgent action to protect the lives of civilian workers, secure the energy sector, and prevent the recurrence of such attacks on the region’s vital infrastructure. The Norwegian company DNO announced that it had temporarily suspended oil production operations in the Tawke and Fishkhabur fields, following three explosions in the two fields on Wednesday morning. According to the company’s statement, one of the explosions occurred at a small oil well within the Tawke field, while the other explosion occurred in the production facilities of the Fishkhabour, and the company confirmed that no human losses occurred as a result of the explosions, noting that its teams began investigating the damage and that production operations will resume after the completion of technical assessments. The British company / Gulf Key Stone / Petroleum announced the suspension of its production in the Shaikan field after explosions occurred in a number of oil fields. The company said in a statement that as a precautionary measure, GKP decided to temporarily stop production from the Shaikan field after explosions occurred in a number of oil fields located in the vicinity of the area during the past days. It confirmed that it had taken measures to protect its employees and that it was closely monitoring the situation, and would provide further updates as necessary.
