Medieval queens shine at Elie Saab's Paris show

Paris-ALSharqiya, July 7: Elia Saab House presented its collection of high-end tailoring for the upcoming fall and winter, on the third day of the Paris Fashion Week activities. The royal character prevailed in the looks, which were inspired by stars who embodied royal personalities that marked the world of cinema, such as Cate Blanchett in Elizabeth, Sophie Marceau in Braveheart, and Marion Cotillard in Macbeath.

The Elie Saab show was held at the Parisian Museum of Decorative Arts, and it included about 80 looks that transported the audience and followers on social media to the world of the Middle Ages. The extravagant Gothic style prevailed in most of the designs, and was evident through the dense embroidery, sharp lines, and colors inspired by the world of jewels such as sparkling gold, sparkling silver, emerald green, ruby red, and deep violet.

Touches embodying ropes and braids entered many designs, as did collars with square cuts and decorations inspired by Gothic architecture. Head coverings added ambiguity to the costumes, while the dramatic character was evident through the embroidered velvet capes that accompanied many looks for both women and men.

Blazer jackets appeared repeatedly in more than one look, and some of them were transformed into long dresses that were accompanied by heavy embroidery and exuberant flowers. The men's looks reflected the dramatic, luxurious character that dominated the women's looks, and they were able to enhance Elie Saab's position as a leading force in the field of men's high fashion.

Designer Elie Saab used luxurious materials such as velvet and satin to add touches of luxury that he wanted to accompany his designs. In some designs, he relied on floral motifs that seemed to bloom into designs colored in pastel gradations, recalling the designer's love for the world of romantic femininity. This time, he deviated from the tradition of using white for a wedding dress, as his bride appeared in pale pink and was distinguished by a princely look that carried luxurious Gothic touches through golden embroideries and a cape design that seemed to be associated with the dress. Find out below about the most prominent designs of Elie Saab's haute couture collection for the upcoming fall and winter.
