Baghdad - ALsharqiya, July 21: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani affirmed the continuation of efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in fuel to operate power plants. This came during his launch of the implementation work on the project to rehabilitate two existing thermal units with a capacity of 320 megawatts and install two new units with a capacity of 320 megawatts at the Dora Thermal Power Plant in Baghdad.
Al-Sudani also emphasized the importance of the thermal power plant, given its location in the center of Baghdad and its investment in the outputs of the Dora refinery, which will be in accordance with environmental specifications and requirements. He pointed out that the Ministry of Electricity, through the project to resolve bottlenecks in the transmission and distribution sectors, has maintained the continuity and acceptable rate of electricity supply to citizens. Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized that the final solution to the electricity problem in Iraq, which the government identified from the first day it assumed responsibility, is In securing fuel and energy independence, away from other calculations, he said that the problems of US sanctions on Iran and importing gas from other countries are problems outside the scope of the state and that the solution is to secure fuel for all stations independently.
