Baghdad - Al-Sharqiya July 24: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said that previous licensing rounds caused a huge waste of associated gas and wasted Iraq’s wealth for decades. Al-Sudani confirmed during the inauguration of the central gas processing station in the Al-Faiha oil field in Basra Governorate, with a capacity of 130 million standard cubic feet per day, that Iraq now reaches 1,000 cubic feet and generates 3,500 megawatts of energy by investing part of the wasted gas from 26:02 to 27:22. Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said that the Ministry of Electricity has a shortage of 4,000 megawatts of energy due to its lack of gas imported from Iran, at a time when the value of the contract between Baghdad and Tehran amounts to more than $50 million. Al-Sudani stressed that Iraq cannot remain hostage to importing gas or Searching for alternatives while burning associated gas daily without any action by the concerned authorities
