London - ALsharqiya, April 10: Meta announced the launch of a "Teen Accounts" feature on Facebook and Messenger, which aims to enhance teen protection while using these platforms. The feature will be available in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada and will automatically place teens in a built-in experience to protect their data and prevent inappropriate content and unwanted contact.
Teens under the age of 16 will need parental permission to change their account settings. Messages will be limited to people they follow or have previously contacted, and only friends and followers will be able to view or interact with stories. The feature also includes reminders for teens to leave the app after an hour of use, as well as activating "Quiet Mode" at night to ensure restful sleep.
