Maysan - Al-Sharqiya, July 27: Fires continue for the third consecutive day in the Al-Huwaizah Marsh in Maysan Governorate, leaving serious environmental impacts. The Iraq Green Environmental Observatory said that the reeds are hindering efforts to construct an earthen dam in the Dhayl al-Fahal area by engineering efforts, and that the area is restricted to entry by oil facilities and border forces only. It pointed out that winds, drought, and high temperatures are among the factors that help the fires continue. Specialized experts warned of an environmental disaster in Maysan after it was covered in thick smoke due to fires in the Al-Huwaizah Marsh.
