European Council President defends negotiations to conclude an agreement with China ahead of a summit with Biden

Brussels-ALSHARQIYA   June 8: The President of the European Council defended the Union's efforts to reach an investment agreement with China, ahead of summit meetings with US President Joe Biden.

Charles Michel will meet the US President at the end of the week at the G7 summit in Cornwall, before receiving him in Brussels next week for US-European talks.

In statements to reporters ahead of the meetings, Michel stressed that Biden's efforts to improve relations signal a return to a "strong partnership" after the tension that marred those relations under the administration of former President Donald Trump.
