Egypt-Al-Sharqiya, October 19: For the second time, the management of the El Gouna Film Festival decided to postpone the sixth session, taking into account the tragic events taking place in the Gaza Strip, while donating a sum of money to support relief efforts.
The festival management issued a statement to announce the postponement of the date of the session, which was initially scheduled to start on the 13th of this October, before it was postponed for two weeks to be held on the 27th of October.
However, the escalation of tragic events in Gaza prompted the festival organizers to announce the postponement of the session indefinitely, expressing their wish that the festival would be held as soon as the situation inside the Palestinian territories stabilizes.
The festival expressed its solidarity with the Palestinian people, and its sympathy with the people of Gaza, after announcing a donation of 5 million Egyptian pounds, to support humanitarian relief efforts for the people of Gaza, in cooperation with the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development and the Egyptian Red Crescent.
In the same context, Egyptian musician Omar Khairat joined the list of postponed concerts and artistic works, due to the events taking place in the Gaza Strip in recent days.
The Egyptian musician announced the postponement of all his concerts until further notice, due to what is happening in the current period, placing the Palestinian flag in the background of his picture.
Khairat did not announce the date for the return of the postponed concerts and the resumption of his artistic activity, awaiting what will result in the coming days. He also did not specify the concerts that were decided to be postponed, and contented himself with confirming that all contracted concerts had been stopped.
