Cairo - ALsharqiya, August 9: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed their rejection of Israel's decision to reoccupy the entire Gaza Strip. The Egyptian presidency stated in a statement that during their meeting in El Alamein, Sisi and Fidan discussed several regional issues, most notably developments in the Gaza Strip. Both sides stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire in the Strip and the entry of humanitarian aid, while emphasizing their rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their land. According to the statement, during the meeting, Sisi praised the qualitative development in Egyptian-Turkish relations, especially after the signing of the joint declaration in February 2024 to reactivate the meetings of the Strategic Cooperation Council between the two countries. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reiterated his country's absolute rejection of Israel's plan to occupy the Gaza Strip. Fidan said during a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdel Aty, that Turkey and Egypt will continue to stand against such scenarios, describing the plan to occupy the entire Gaza Strip as a new phase of Israel's expansionist and genocidal policy.
