Drought hits Iraq's oldest irrigation dams

Dhi Qar - Al Sharqiya , July 25: Shocking images from Dhi Qar province showed the Al-Badaa Dam completely dry due to the lack of water revenues. A video clip published on Friday shows the drying up of the Al-Badaa Dam, which is located in the Shatra district and is considered one of the oldest irrigation dams in Iraq. It worked from the 1920s until a few years ago to store water and then release it with the aim of reviving the neighboring agricultural lands by regulating the water distribution process.
