Dohuk wins the Iraq Football Cup for the first time in its history

Baghdad - ALsharqiya, July 19: Duhok team won the Iraq Football Cup title for the first time in its history on Friday evening, after defeating Zakho team on penalties (5-3) in the final match held at Al-Shaab International Stadium in the capital, Baghdad. The regular and extra time of the match ended in a goalless draw, so the two teams resorted to penalty kicks, which smiled on the Duhok team, amid a large crowd that filled the stadium stands. The match witnessed exciting events, most notably the expulsion of Zakho player Patrick Marcelino in the 65th minute after receiving a second yellow card, leaving his team to complete the match with ten players. The match witnessed tension between the technical staff and players, as a quarrel broke out between Duhok team supervisor Khaled Mushir and Zakho player Amjad Atwan, which developed into a fistfight and the intervention of a Duhok administrator who physically assaulted Atwan.
