Digital media: fake pages claiming to be news agencies

Baghdad-ALsharqiya, July 10: The Iraqi Digital Media Center said that in recent days, dozens of pages have appeared on the Facebook platform, presenting themselves as news agencies specialized in publishing news related to Iraqi events. The Center confirmed in a statement that the pages do not include a phone number and do not have a website or digital information that proves the agency’s history and media production, as well as its orientation to marketing or attacking a politician or party, which indicates that they are fronts for politicians and parties participating in the elections and seeking to promote a particular party or politician, or It may be used to attack and criticize other parties and political opponents. The Center stressed that these pages are fronts for electronic armies that were active before the elections in order to achieve temporary goals related to political promotion or to bring down others, and they will remain until the end of the elections.
