Dhi Qar decided to stop flights to Ur until further notice

Dhi Qar - ALsharqiya, March 2: The Dhi Qar Antiquities Inspectorate announced the suspension of tourist trips to the ancient city of Ur, in conjunction with the upcoming visit of the Pope of the Vatican to Iraq and the historical city. Inspectorate Director Taher Quinn said in a press statement that the suspension comes in conjunction with the imminent visit of the Pope of the Vatican to the archaeological city of Ur and the preparations made by the Inspectorate in cooperation with the departments for the purpose of completing all the requirements of the visit. The ziggurat of Ur was lit after being supplied with electric power for the first time in preparation for the Pope's visit. The appointed governor of Dhi Qar, Abdul-Ghani Al-Asadi, visited the historic Ziggurat of Ur and inspected the ongoing preparations to receive Pope Francis in the governorate. Al-Asadi said that his visit to the site to see the preparations made by the concerned authorities regarding the visit of Pope Francis
