Chlorine gas leak in Karbala

Karbala - ALsharqiya, August 10: The Iraqi Ministry of Health announced on Sunday that 621 cases of suffocation were recorded due to a chlorine gas leak in the city of Karbala. Sources in Karbala confirmed that the accident was caused by a chlorine leak from one of the water circuits located on the Karbala-Najaf road near column 1200, and the situation was completely controlled without any major damage. For its part, the Karbala Water Directorate denied that the leak had any connection to the water department’s projects or stations, stressing that the pumping and sterilization systems were operating normally and safely. The Ministry of Health statement confirmed that all the injured received the necessary treatment and left hospitals in good health without complications.
