BEIJING -Al Sharqiya, August 13: The Chinese military said on Wednesday that it monitored and "removed" a US destroyer that sailed near the Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea, a busy strategic waterway. The Chinese military's Southern Theater Command said in a statement that the ship "Hikins" entered the waters on Wednesday without the approval of the Chinese government, while the US Navy said that the Hikins "exercised its navigational rights and freedoms" near the Scarborough Shoal "in accordance with international law."
