Angelina Jolie "concerned" about the situation of women in Afghanistan

USA-ALSHARQIYA September 5: The actress and envoy of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Angelina Jolie, expressed her concern about the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan, after the Taliban movement took power.

On Sunday, she said she did not believe the next government in Afghanistan could simply turn back the clock so that everything would be as it was 20 years ago. But she still has major concerns about the situation of women there.

"I think of all the women and girls who now don't know if they can go back to work or school. I also think of Afghan youth who are worried about losing their freedom," Jolie told German weekly Welt am Sonntag.

Taliban fighters seized control of most of Afghanistan last month and celebrated the departure of the last US soldier after 20 years of war.
