Android notifications: a security trap that can threaten your privacy at any time

Washington - ALsharqiya, June 17: Despite being a basic feature, Android system notifications have become a new security threat, according to a report published by the website

What's the Danger?

Message notifications—especially those containing suggested links—may contain an "Open Link" button that appears on the lock screen.

However, the apparent link may not be the actual destination, allowing hackers to unknowingly redirect users to malicious websites or phishing pages.

The reason for the vulnerability:

In some cases, Android relies on invisible Unicode characters within the notification, which misleads users about the real link and prevents the system engine from detecting the discrepancy.

Security Tip:

Don't click on any links in the notifications directly.

Open the app itself and check the link within it.

Limit the display of notifications on the lock screen in your privacy settings.

This type of vulnerability is used in phishing attacks and is another example of the importance of digital caution in even the simplest everyday interactions.
