Washington-ALSHARQIYA 31 August : The family of the American actor, Ed Asner, who won seven Emmy Awards, said that he died, Sunday, at the age of 91.
Asner died in his home surrounded by his family, his publicist told the media.
Asner played roles in several television series, including "The My Taylor More Show" and "Le Grant" in the seventies and eighties, and also participated in his voice in the famous animated movie "UP" in 2009, where he played the character of the widower Carl Fredricksen.
His family confirmed his death on his Twitter account.
Asner became famous for his liberal politics and his tenure as president of the Screen Actors Guild in the 1980s when he criticized the United States' involvement in Central America during the administration of the former president of the Actors Guild, President Ronald Reagan.
