Aline Khalaf returns to singing

Lebanon-Al Sharqiya September 15: After repeating the old songs, the journey of special songs began through a group of successful works such as “Lali Leh,” “Wade Wade,” “Ya Zain,” “Qalloulak Eh,” and “Ezz Aliy.” ...But in 2002, she separated from Lamara, and her star declined in favor of another young star, Nancy Ajram, Gigi Lamara's new talent.

Her stardom quickly diminished, until it faded away completely, and her appearances became limited to news about her personal life, or her participation in television programs, until she returned a few days ago with a new song, announcing that she still exists and that she is ready to compete. Khalaf then released the song “Don’t Tell Me,” written by the late poet Elias Nasser, composed by George Mardirossian, and arranged by Michel Fadel.

A good song technically, which justifies its spread quickly on social media. Director Zac Ghosn knew how to play on the strings of nostalgia for a wide segment of Khalaf’s audience, so he began the video clip with a clip from the song “Ya Sababeen Al-Shay,” which in the 1990s opened the door to success for Khalaf. For his part, arranger Michel Fadel knew how to move the melody in a way that seemed musically proficient despite the weak words.

Will “Don’t Tell Me” be an announcement of Khalaf’s return to the scene? Or is it just an orphan experience, after which the Lebanese artist disappears again?
