Al-Sudani: We are working to reduce unemployment, address poverty, and combat corruption.

Baghdad - ALsharqiya, July 12: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani affirmed the government's commitment to implementing the basic principles of the government program, which include reducing unemployment rates, addressing poverty, combating corruption, providing services, and implementing economic reform. Al-Sudani's statements came during his meeting with the president and members of the new council of the Iraqi Writers Union, where he pointed to the role of writers and authors in defending Iraq and protecting its sovereignty and independence by presenting balanced and rational ideas and opinions to confront various challenges, especially in light of the events and repercussions witnessed in the region. The Prime Minister agreed to grant members of the union serviced residential plots, open a channel for creative graduate studies, and grant 10 seats for literary and critical studies outside Iraq. He also agreed to make 2026 a special year to celebrate the centenary of the birth of the icons of contemporary Iraqi poetry, Badr Shakir al-Sayyab, Abdul Wahhab al-Bayati, and Buland al-Haidari. He also supported the holding of the next meeting of the Arab Writers Union in Baghdad.
