Actress Laila Taher announces her retirement

Egypt-ALSHARQIYA  September 8: A long artistic journey that began in the fifties of the last century, was brought down by a strict decision, after the Egyptian artist, Laila Taher, announced her retirement from artwork.

The Egyptian artist explained in a telephone interview that since she participated in the series "The Door in the Door" 7 years ago, she has found that the works that are presented to her do not suit her.

Therefore, she decided to hide and retire from art after a very long tender journey, stressing that there is no longer a need to submit works just for the sake of being present, content with her long history.

The Egyptian artist indicated that she respects her work and respects her audience, considering that the decision will not be reversed, especially since she has been absent for many years, so she finds it difficult to return after all these years.

With regard to her life at the present time, she emphasized that it has become a family life dedicated to her family and friends, after she was deprived of them for many years because of her preoccupation with artwork.

However, from time to time she follows up on the displayed artworks, and sees that the current situation with regard to the art and works that are displayed is very different from what was happening in their time.

There are some works that make her feel happy after following them, while she feels heartbreak and sadness when she sees other works that are presented at the present time, but she refused to name them.

Laila Taher, who holds a Bachelor of Social Work, started her career as a TV presenter through the "TV Magazine" program. She also presented a number of other programs, but then decided to turn to acting, and excelled in many roles.

Among the most prominent cinematic works in which she participated are the films "A Cat on Fire", "Soft Hands" and "Cairo at Night". She also participated in series, including "The Halawani Gate", "Fawazeer Amo Fouad" and "The Family of Professor Shalash".
