Paris-Alsharqiya, October 4: The “Hermes” house held a fashion show, on Saturday, in Paris, which included flat shoes and informal but elegant clothes, but the event was interrupted for a moment by an activist from the “PETA” association that defends animals.
A décor of a pasture with the scent of horses and plants replanted by the house was set up in the fashion show venue.
A PETA activist boycotted the fashion show, as she joined the models on the catwalk, carrying a sign that read, "Ermes: Stop using animal skin."
A statement by the organization, which denounces the house's use of crocodile skins, explained that "PETA stormed the Ermes platform to urge the brand to abandon these materials."
On the catwalk, the color red appeared in all its shades, in a move that contrasted with the dark colors adopted by other fashion houses in their designs.
"Red can have very negative connotations, but I wanted to restore its aesthetic side and the strength and beauty it symbolizes," Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski, artistic director of the women's collections, told Agence France-Presse.
The event witnessed the display of short shorts, loose dresses and soft jumpsuits, designs that encourage the wearer to sit on the grass and take a walk in nature.
Short crop tops and slits on the back or on the waist add a touch of sophistication to the designs.
The designer says: “I leave women the choice of when and under what circumstances to wear these clothes. I do not like to give directions in this regard.”
Models wore flat sandals inspired by hiking boots.
