AC Milan sack coach Giampaolo after a poor start to the season

MILAN-ALSHARQIYA Oct 9  - AC Milan have sacked coach Marco Giampaolo after losing four of their first seven games this season, the Serie A club said on Tuesday. Giampaolo was appointed last June with the task of trying to end the club's eight-year drought and bring him back to the Champions League after a six-year absence. But the start of his tenure was poor and he was sacked despite the team ending its three-match losing streak by beating Genoa on Saturday. In a statement, the club announced that it had relieved Marco Giampaolo from his position as coach of the first team. Former Lazio and Inter Milan coach Stefano Pioli has been named as a possible replacement for Giampaolo. Bioli's last training assignment was with Fiorentina, who left him in April during his second season in charge.
