A simple trick gives you an extra 15GB of Gmail storage space

London - ALsharqiya December 31: Google services are among the most generous in cloud storage, as each new user gets 15 GB for free when creating an account, but this space fills up quickly, especially when using Google Drive or Google Photos to store photos and videos.

You can bypass the inbox crowded with unread newsletters or spam messages through a clever trick, while keeping important messages in a safe place, without having to spend any money.

Steps to get additional free space:

1. Backup first

Saving a backup copy of old messages on your computer or external hard drive is a necessary step to ensure that no files are lost during the process.

2. Prepare the original account for transfer

- Log in to the original Gmail account.

- Open Settings through the gear icon in the upper right corner, then choose "View all settings".

- In the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab, activate the "Enable POP for all mail" option.

- Choose to automatically delete messages after transferring them from the original account, then save the changes.

3. Create a new account to transfer messages

- Create a new Gmail account to act as an archive.

- Go to the new account settings and select "Add an email account" from the "Check mail from other accounts" section.

- Enter the original email, then select "Import messages from my other account (POP3)".

- Enter the password for the original account (you can create a temporary password if necessary).

- Select the "995" port and enable the secure connection (SSL) option and classify and archive incoming messages.

4. Start the transfer process

After setting up the two accounts, the mail transfer process starts automatically. This process may take some time depending on the number of messages and the size of the data. For example, transferring 75,000 messages took about two full days in a test conducted by an expert.

5. Clean up the old account and stop the transfer

When the transfer is complete, all messages in the original account are automatically deleted and placed in the trash, which can be emptied manually. To stop the transfer process, you can open the settings of the new account and delete the original account from the list of imported accounts.
