A severe heat wave hits Iraqi cities again

Baghdad - ALsharqiya, August 7: Two areas in Basra Governorate topped the list of the hottest cities in the world on Thursday, as a severe heatwave returned with temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius in several areas of Iraq. Basra International Airport recorded the highest temperature in the world at 50.7 degrees Celsius, followed by the Al-Hussein area in Basra, also at 50.4 degrees Celsius. The list also included six other Iraqi areas: Nasiriyah at 49 degrees Celsius, Amara at 48.4 degrees Celsius, Ali al-Gharbi at 47.9 degrees, Al-Rifai at 47.5 degrees, Badra at 47.5 degrees, and finally Najaf Airport, which recorded 47.1 degrees Celsius.
