Baghdad - ALsharqiya, April 21: Unusual behavior from the popular chatbot ChatGPT has recently caught the attention of a number of users, after some noticed that the bot began calling them by their first names while answering questions or solving problems, a phenomenon some described as "disturbing."
One of the most prominent commentators on this phenomenon was software developer Simon Wilson, who deemed it a "creepy and unnecessary" feature, noting that the sudden and unexpected use of names creates a sense of discomfort. It remains unclear whether this change is due to OpenAI's recently launched "Memory" feature, which aims to improve the user experience by personalizing responses based on previous conversations.
Communication experts have indicated that using a user's first name can be an effective strategy for building interactive relationships, but it can come across as fake or intrusive if used inaccurately or exaggeratedly. Amid these updates, OpenAI announced that ChatGPT is now better able to remember details of previous conversations, allowing it to provide more accurate and tailored answers to users' interests—a move that has impressed some and worried others.
