Baghdad - Al-Sharqiya , August 11: Baghdad and several Iraqi provinces witnessed a complete power outage during the past hours, amid record-breaking temperatures. Sources from various provinces reported that electricity distribution stations in Baghdad, the central and southern provinces, as well as Nineveh, Diyala and Anbar, went out of service. Residents in Baghdad say that electricity was cut off in several areas almost completely, without knowing the reasons. Meanwhile, residents of Basra, Najaf, Dhi Qar and Anbar complained of a complete outage in the national system as well. Informed sources said that the likely cause is heavy loads or a technical emergency, without any clarification being issued so far by any official body in Iraq.
