45 million downloads.. Emirati "Falcon" for artificial intelligence conquers the world

Abu Dhabi - ALsharqiya February 6: Dr. Hakim Hasid, Senior Researcher at the Artificial Intelligence Unit of the Technology Innovation Institute, funded by the Abu Dhabi government, announced that the Falcon series of artificial intelligence models has exceeded 45 million downloads worldwide. This reflects the growing demand for these models, which are now widely used by companies, institutions and government agencies around the world, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

This achievement confirms Abu Dhabi's leadership in the field of generative artificial intelligence, especially as the world moves towards adopting advanced artificial intelligence technologies in various sectors. Speaking to Emirates News Agency (WAM) during the second day of the "World of Artificial Intelligence" event at Expo Dubai, Hasid said that the Falcon models are receiving wide attention from government agencies and major companies, as more than 20 government agencies use them to develop their digital solutions. The institute is also holding talks with seven countries to discuss how to adopt these models and adapt them to suit their linguistic and cultural needs.

As for the private sector, Dr. Hasid explained that many entities, both in the UAE and globally, use Falcon to develop their own applications.

Regarding the difference between Falcon and other models such as ChatGPT, Dr. Hasid explained that Falcon is distinguished by being an open-source model, which means that developers have full access to the model, modify it, and use it to create their own applications. He said: “Unlike closed models such as ChatGPT, developers can download Falcon, understand how it works, and build their own applications based on it, which gives companies and government entities great freedom to customize artificial intelligence to suit their needs, instead of relying on ready-made solutions that impose restrictions on users.”
